Another cabinet added to the Visitor's Cabs page
Jerry Fath sent me some pictures of the cabinet he just completed, which will make the holidays especially memorable.  He built this as a Christmas present for his children (how cool is that?!?) and will be trying to fit it under the tree tonight.  He also built a custom controller complete with trackball.  The cabinet turned out extremely nice, in my opinion.  The frontend gives the completed cabinet a very polished look.  Great job!

Additional pictures are on the Visitor's page.  Give them a look.

Winamp Web Interface Update
I have found the solution to the audio problems I was having with my wireless jukebox.  I replaced the X10 transmitter/receiver with the RCA Lyra Wireless System This little system blew me away with it's range and sound quality.  It now allows me to drive the music to the main stereo from any networked machine in the house.  Obviously, this is primarily to be run from either the cabinet or from the laptop.  Read the complete story here.

Arcade Music Box
Space Fractal now has version 1.10 of the Arcade Music Box available for download. He has added quite a few new features as well as fixing the few small bugs that inevitably pop up.  In case you had not figured it out, I really like this jukebox.  Visit him and see what you think.

Doom Legacy
One of the games I had always wanted to be able to play on my cabinet has been the original Doom.  When it first came out way back when it ate a huge amount of hours.  The difficulty in loading it to the cabinet has been the inability to remap all the keys (and to use the mouse).  These are no longer issues since Doom Legacy has been installed.

The goals of the Legacy project were to retain the original Doom game play and to keep it simple and fast.  However, they did add features that made better use of today's (faster) machines.  Legacy supports key remapping just like the Quake series.  It also improves on the basic engine by allowing many more video sizes.   The main requirement now is a commercial or shareware version of either DOOM, Ultimate DOOM, DOOM2.

I have spent quite a few hours over the long holiday weekend revisiting Doom.  Having it on the cabinet adds a great deal to the experience.  Visit the Legacy site to see what else it offers.
